Hi. I'm not entirely sure who's reading this yet. Maybe it's someone who knows me. Maybe it's a stranger who stumbled across this corner of the internet. Either way, thanks for being here.
My name is Sara, and this is WILDCARD.
I started this newsletter because I wanted a place to think out loud, sort of like a public journal. Somewhere to collect ideas, ask questions, and hopefully build a community.
I don't know exactly where this newsletter is going yet, and I kind of like that.
I know I want to write about sustainability, design, how the things we make shape the way we live, and how living more intentionally might mean slowing down rather than speeding up. I want to write about the importance of long-form content in an age that rewards scrolling, about protecting our attention spans.
Maybe that's part of why I'm doing this.
I want to make space for slow design, for physical media, for books you dog-ear and magazines you leave on your coffee table. For things that feel tangible. AI is changing the way we create, but I don't believe it can replace the human need to make things with care or to connect through stories that come from lived experience.
So, this is where I'll share those stories.
Some posts will be about art. Some about mental health. Some about the news, design, culture, or whatever rabbit hole I've fallen into that week. I don't want to box this into one category.
As I'm writing this, I'm imagining myself as Carrie Bradshaw or Hannah Horvath typing away at their computers trying to to make sense of their lives and girlhood through wrriting. They aren't iconic because they have all the answers. They're iconic because they're just girls trying to figure life out in New York, writing their way through uncertainty.
That's how I feel, too.
Those characters made me feel a little less alone while I was navigating my own life. If this newsletter can do even a fraction of that for someone else, then it'll be worth writing.
